ootd | a day in Amsterdam

Today was supposedly a productive day where I would work on uni stuff, but as usual I grabbed any chance of procrastination, so when my sister asked if I wanted to come with her and my mom to Amsterdam, which is a 40minutes drive, I couldn't say no..
The weather outside was chilly but the sun managed to peek-a-boo every now and then, unfortunately the rain as well. That's when I decided to buy this fedora at Forever21 to keep my hair a bit dry, which was a real steal! Originally priced 13 euros down to 8euros. Don't know how long this discount will last, so grab one while you can! I'm wearing a comfy sweater which I'm obsessed with lately (I have it in another colour as well) and paired it with some tights and a skort, which you probably don't see clearly in the pictures. Fun fact about me, I don't like to bring a small bag with me when I'm shopping in a crowded city like Amsterdam. Call me paranoid but when I walk through a crowded street, I just assume that at least 55% of the people there are pickpockets. Blame the multiple times I got pick pocketed in the past and the feeling of anxiety and the thought of you bursting in tears in the middle of the street are just things you don't forget easily. By wearing small bags, you gain more risks of being pick pocketed. So this big leather/suede red bag is perfect for shopping in Amsterdam. I bought it in a stand at the WinterFair a while ago and can't seem to remember the name of the shop. I will come back to it when I remember. After doing some digging, I found the shop's name. It's from a Dutch online webshop Jumpings. I'm sorry to announce that they don't do international shipping..

Anyhow, we visited several stores and I bought a few things along the way that I can't wait to show you guys (will post about it in tomorrow's post). On top of it all, I get to eat at my favourite Thai, which made it a perfect ending of the day.

What do you think of my outfit?

Style appreciation: Rachel Bilson

Time for one of my Style Appreciation posts, this time dedicated to Rachel Bilson's awesome street style. Who doesn't like to wear just a plain tee and jeans? But sometimes you can look rather too casual and kind of boring.. except for Rachel. I don't know how she does it, but she manage to look chic and classy in just a plain shirt. I love her seemingly effortless street look. And how awesome is her shoes collection? Definitely a style I would like to go for!

I just noticed how she wears sunglasses into all her outfits, especially the ones I chose for this post..
Ahh how I wish to have her wardrobe.

London Fashion Week Day 1 | Somerset House Street Style

London Fashion Week isn’t something I’ve experienced before. Being a complete fashion week novice I didn’t apply for any shows, but what I did discover is that it’s absolutely fine to just pop down to Somerset House and mooch about, snapping away at street style.

My beautiful cousin Kyle lives in London and she was lucky enough for me to drag her around ;). It was incredible seeing all the hustle and bustle and although it would’ve been amazing to see a few shows I was completely content running around with my camera! I also didn’t quite expect that so many people would ask for myphoto – that was weird (they also snapped away at Ky, but that’s a given – she’s a beauty). We spent a good few hours there and I thought you guys might quite like to see my favourite looks from the day?

Hat: American Apparel (similar here). Denim Jacket: Urban Outfitters. Playsuit: Vintage (similar here). Bag: DSUK. Brouges: ASOS. Lipstick: Kate Moss for Rimmel 107
It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t show you what I wore, would it? There were lots of women braving the bitterly cold day in stiletto’s but heels aren’t for me at the best of times and I wasn’t about to feel uncomfortable with a whole day on my feet – so obviously I opted for comfort.

Did any of you lovely lot attend this year? I’d love to know your favourite look from the above – mine has to be that handsome chappy in that AMAZING coat!

Much love, xx

Heaven is a Place on Earth

Hat:Topshop. Jumper: c/o COW. Leggings: Topshop. Sandals: Topshop
There is never a dull moment when a vintage jumper is in your life and I can’t count on my hands and feet combined the amount I have. I popped this one on the other day and Daniel said ‘that’s very you, and very much like all the other ones you have’ which made me chuckle (only because it’s true). I love a good embellishment and the fact that this jumper is bright pink equals a match made in Megan heaven.

You know I love to be comfortable and there’s nothing better than whacking on a super soft baggy jumper over a pair of leggings and just being done with it.

I really love reading through the comments that you wonderful lot leave on my posts, and one thing I find that comes up more often than not is ‘Love this look, but I’d never dare wear it!’ – So...I by no means class myself as anything out of the ordinary when it comes to fashion but I just wanted to say that when I pick clothes, I very rarely think much about anything. That doesn’t sound very good does it, but I just mean if you see something and you think you like it, more often than not you’d be surprised at how you can make it work with what is already in your wardrobe. It just takes a bit of patience and imagination.

If you’d like to see some posts or perhaps a ‘how to’ video on styling statement pieces, do let me know!

Much love, xxx

If I were a Flower, I'd be a Sunflower.

Hat: Topshop. Top: H&M Basics. Dungarees: American Apparel. Brouges: ASOS
Daniel and I made a trip to the Bullring shopping centre in Birmingham last weekend - I needed to get my friend a birthday present and Daniel quite fancied treating himself to a few bits :) we had such a lovely day, mooching around and stopping off for lunch at our favourite restaurant ekachai, which does the BEST crispy duck salad ever, ever.

I'm a little tight for pennies at the moment, needless to say shopping hasn't really been on my agenda. So when I spotted these dungarees in American Apparel's spot in Selfridge's I nearly died. You know when you see something and you both know instantly that it was just meant to be? Yeah, that. Well...if dungarees had feelings I'm sure they would've thought that, but y'know we can pretend. I just can't explain how much I love them, as soon as I put them on I feel happy. When Daniel asked me if I'd like them I nearly threw up...1. because they are terribly expensive and 2. because he is so lovely to even offer...

...But I couldn't say no!! They're probably one of the most expensive items of clothing I own...and to be honest at £80 I wouldn't say it's 'worth' it, but for me I know I'll get my (Daniel's) monies wear, not to mention the incredible quality and comfort that comes along with them, they're 100% my favourite item of clothing, probably ever. I think it's fab to have one item of clothing in your wardrobe that you think is really special, and for me, these dungarees are that.
So a huge thank you to Daniel for being amazing and also to American Apparel for being just a tad awesome.

What do you think? Are you a fan of dungarees? Or even sunflowers for that matter?!

You Can't Sit With Us!

Regina Tee: c/o The Lost Lanes. Levi Shorts: Urban Outfitters. Backpack: Urban Outfitters. Boots: Daniel Footwear. Hat: Topshop
Mean Girls has to be one of the best chick flicks of all time. I'm pretty sure years on, I could still quote every word and no - I'm not ashamed!! When The Lost Lanes got in contact, a beautiful East London based online store that sells independent designers amazing creations, I was excited. It's so lovely to discover a haven where you can explore all sorts of fashion; and this beaut of a tee is from These Folk. 'You can't sit with us' is one of my favourite lines in the film and Regina George is such a brilliant character.

This outfit is definitely a go-to for comfort, effortless but easily jazzed up with an aztec backpack and floppy hat.

Was Mean Girls one of your favourites too? Danny Devito - I love your work!!!

Follow the Yellow Brick Road

Jumper: Factorie (Australia), Belt: Vintage. Skirt: ASOS. Brogues: ASOS. Bag: Sweetheart, Hat: Topshop

Afternoon lovelies! I've been extremely good with my pennies of late, I can't recall the last time I bought myself a piece of clothing but when I spotted these 'Dorothy' brogues and a-line mini skirt on ASOS I was in love and there wasn't much standing between me and my bank card. A girl deserves a treat every now and then, eh?

I already have two pairs of brogues (whoopsy) but I didn't own a patent pair, and they certainly weren't ox-blood. I'd also been on the lookout for some more colourful skirts - mine all seem to be very plain and for the days when I'm feeling snazzy (today) I want to be able to throw on some colour and not worry too much about what to pair it with. This skirt goes perfectly with pretty much anything - whether it's toasty outside and you fancy a crop top or like today where it's a bit chilly I just threw on this plain oversized jumper and tights to keep me warm.

I'm off to mum and dads tonight for dinner whilst Daniel wines and dines his friends with a BBQ! Tomorrow I'll be painting the kitchen table and chairs and then before we know it Monday will be upon us..

What are you all up to over the weekend? Hope you all have a good one :)

Style Challenge with ASOS & Urban Outfitters | How to Style a Denim Jacket - 5 Ways!

Denim Jacket: c/o Urban Outfitters & ASOS. Bag: Urban Outfitters. Top: Mums undies! Disco Pants: American Apparel. Boots: TK Maxx
I had an email come through a few weeks ago from one of the lovely ladies at ASOS Fashion Finder HQ asking if I’d like to participate in their ‘Ones to Watch’ feature. After picking my jaw up from the floor and doing a celebratory dance around my room I of course replied and said ‘yes please!’

The feature was to style a piece from Urban Outfitters vintage collection in 5 different ways. I chose this beast of a denim jacketand the task was actually much harder than I had first anticipated, but I gave it my best and you can see the results here.

I thought I would share my favourite of the 5 styles in a full outfit post – y’know give that jacket the recognition it deserves. When I picked the jacket off the website I wasn’t aware that the sizes came up big and went for a small. When it arrived and would quite clearly fit a grown 6ft man I panicked – but when I slipped it on I absolutely fell in love. I think it goes to show that you never know with fashion and that’s why it’s so fun to take risks, because sometimes they can pay off (well, I hope it has anyway!)

I hadn’t pulled my disco pants out for a while so teemed with my mum’s old underwear (who would wear this top as undies can I just ask?), my velvet ankle boots and Aztec backpack I’m quite enjoying the grungy, biker girl feel.

I’d really love to know what you think of the 5 different looks and which one is your favourite :)

Do you own a denim jacket? How do you style yours?

Monochrome Madness | If I was a Festival Girl Issue #2

Hat: Topshop, Cami: ASOS. Blazer: c/o Mina. Wellies: c/o Spats, Shorts: Oh my Love.
Oh hey everyone! Look, it is I, wearing black and white again ;) I mentioned in one of my other posts that I’m not really a festival go-er, it’s not quite my cup of tea and a biscuit affair. But I still enjoy the whole ‘festival fashion’ experience and seeing what everyone chooses to wear. I’m also partial to playing dress-up. So, this is another outfit edition to add to the ‘what I’d wear should I be on the way to a festival or two’.

I frickin’ LOVE this jacket. The abstract monochrome print is right up my street and I love how it hangs effortlessly making it the easiest item to throw on over a pair of, well anything really. Cami’s are my favourite and although leather shorts aren’t most practical when it’s boiling, they do keep you rather toasty when the sun goes down. Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how absolutely ridiculously awesome these wellington boots are? Firstly, they have poppers. Secondly, the don’t take up your entire leg, making you look like every other person with a welly on at an event and thirdly, inside, THEY ARE FURY. Oh my goodness I’m going to get so much use out of these in my garden attempting to mow the lawn and prune a bush or two (har har).

Obv, I don’t go anywhere without my hat either.

What’s your outfit favourites for festival fashion? If I was to go to any festival it would have to be Bestival...does anyone fancy taking me and bringing me home after a hour? ;)
