Finally Friday

Dress: c/o Mina, Belt: Vintage, Hat: Topshop, Boots: Hudson
Mina never fails to impress me. You know my wardrobe and how monochrome it can be, but when I spotted this dress it was love at first sight. I got my hands on it when it was in the sale, but it appears to have sold out now – sad times. However, they have just launched their beautiful autumn / winter collection which is to die for (which also means a few more summery items are in the sale now too!).

It's finally Friday - I've not been feeling too great this week so it couldn't have come soon enough. This weekend I have the lovely Zoe staying with me and I cannot wait to see her face! We’ll be doing a bit of shopping, a bit of boogying and no doubt a bit of youtubin’...

What are you lovely lot up to this weekend? I sincerely hope this bloomin’ wind pipes down, I don’t fancy being blown away!

Back to Basics

Maxi Skirt: Influence c/o Triple S Clothing. Beaded Crop: Miss Selfridge. Belt: ASOS. Lipstick: Topshop Fire Cracker

Sometimes I will stand in front of my wardrobe for what seems like an eternity, you know when you just have no idea what you want to wear or how you want to look. But sometimes, you open the doors and you know – you want to be comfy, you want something low maintenance and something easy. Well this outfit is the result of one of those type of days.
With the weather being warmer than I anticipated for late September, this jersey maxi skirt is super soft and comfortable and can easily be worn when the sun is shining or layered up when it gets colder. I picked up this beaded crop from Miss Selfridge a few years ago – granted it’s lost a few of it’s beads, but I kinda prefer it that way and it takes this outfit from being plain Jane to a little more textured and interesting.

I’ve also decided to rekindle my love for Topshop’s Fire Cracker lippy – it’s ridiculously bright but I quite like the contrast between my red hair and the bold orange tones from the lipstick.

What’s your outfit of choice through this odd transitional Autumn period?

Flying Solo

Hat: Topshop. Blouse: c/o Scarlett Fashion. Shorts: Vintage Levis. Shoes: Topshop. Satchel: c/o LYDC.
Although it’s quite clear that Autumn has arrived, a coat isn’t necessary at all times. Especially not when you have such a pretty blouseto show off. I think navy is going to play a big part in my winter wardrobe, I’d sort of forgotten about blue and how much I love it! I’ve also wanted to get my hands on a satchel for about a million years, but haven’t really found one that I thought was very ‘me’ – until I spotted this beauty. I’m not a huge fan of solid colour satchels unless they’re really old, distressed leather, so this one sprung out at me straight away. I absolutely love the deep red and chocolate brown detailing, it helps to give the bag a bit of depth instead of looking too blocky.

Now the weather is cooling down I’m starting to get the holiday itch. This time last year I was getting myself excited for Australia and this year will certainly be a case of the winter blues. That’s why I was so excited when Explora Morocco let me know about their latest competition to win a week’s holiday learning to kitesurf in the Atlantic! I’m a bit of a wimp so have never tried anything like this before, but it sounds amazing – like surfing with added wind power. I’m definitely going to be entering to see if I can bag myself a winter trip away and even if you don’t get first prize there’s still a 6 hour course up for grabs as well as 10 runner up prizes. It’s a bit of a no brainer really – if you want to enter to you can do so here! Let me know if you do :)

And if you fancy it, you can shop my look here...

Autumn Sunshine

Coat: Vintage (similar here). Bag: DSUK c/o LYDC.Ray-Bans: c/o Shade Station. Shoes: Topshop (similar here)
I’m not one to tell fibs (well, not regularly anyway) and I wasn’t about to sit around and pretend I wasn’t bloomin’ excited that summer might be over.  Don’t get me wrong I do love the sun and that everyone is so much jollier when it’s got it’s hat on, but I don’t really ‘enjoy’ summer clothing. I’m much more interested in my autumn/winter wardrobe and could not WAIT to whip out a coat!

Admittedly this is my mother’s coat - one she picked up at a vintage market for £7 a few years ago (you might say we’re quite the bargain hunters) but I’m blogging it all the same. It was rather nippy yesterday and I was staying at my parents so raided Mute’s wardrobe for something warm to wear before we popped out on a jolly. Needless to say she wasn’t impressed when I pranced out in this little beauty, but there was no chance I was taking it off. Oddly, the sun was still fierce so I was in need of some sunnies and having just received my first ever pair of Ray-Ban’s I whipped them out and off we went. It probably sounds ridiculous but it’s crazy how much difference it makes having higher-end sunglasses. They feel a zillion times sturdier than my £5 Primark pair I’ve been sporting this summer and actually manage to stay put on my little pea head without slipping halfway down my face every second and giving me a roaring headache like most do!

So, oversize coats and sunglasses combined are my way of stating that I rather like being chilly, but the sun must stay put. Agreed?

Follow the Yellow Brick Road

Jumper: Factorie (Australia), Belt: Vintage. Skirt: ASOS. Brogues: ASOS. Bag: Sweetheart, Hat: Topshop

Afternoon lovelies! I've been extremely good with my pennies of late, I can't recall the last time I bought myself a piece of clothing but when I spotted these 'Dorothy' brogues and a-line mini skirt on ASOS I was in love and there wasn't much standing between me and my bank card. A girl deserves a treat every now and then, eh?

I already have two pairs of brogues (whoopsy) but I didn't own a patent pair, and they certainly weren't ox-blood. I'd also been on the lookout for some more colourful skirts - mine all seem to be very plain and for the days when I'm feeling snazzy (today) I want to be able to throw on some colour and not worry too much about what to pair it with. This skirt goes perfectly with pretty much anything - whether it's toasty outside and you fancy a crop top or like today where it's a bit chilly I just threw on this plain oversized jumper and tights to keep me warm.

I'm off to mum and dads tonight for dinner whilst Daniel wines and dines his friends with a BBQ! Tomorrow I'll be painting the kitchen table and chairs and then before we know it Monday will be upon us..

What are you all up to over the weekend? Hope you all have a good one :)

Style Challenge with ASOS & Urban Outfitters | How to Style a Denim Jacket - 5 Ways!

Denim Jacket: c/o Urban Outfitters & ASOS. Bag: Urban Outfitters. Top: Mums undies! Disco Pants: American Apparel. Boots: TK Maxx
I had an email come through a few weeks ago from one of the lovely ladies at ASOS Fashion Finder HQ asking if I’d like to participate in their ‘Ones to Watch’ feature. After picking my jaw up from the floor and doing a celebratory dance around my room I of course replied and said ‘yes please!’

The feature was to style a piece from Urban Outfitters vintage collection in 5 different ways. I chose this beast of a denim jacketand the task was actually much harder than I had first anticipated, but I gave it my best and you can see the results here.

I thought I would share my favourite of the 5 styles in a full outfit post – y’know give that jacket the recognition it deserves. When I picked the jacket off the website I wasn’t aware that the sizes came up big and went for a small. When it arrived and would quite clearly fit a grown 6ft man I panicked – but when I slipped it on I absolutely fell in love. I think it goes to show that you never know with fashion and that’s why it’s so fun to take risks, because sometimes they can pay off (well, I hope it has anyway!)

I hadn’t pulled my disco pants out for a while so teemed with my mum’s old underwear (who would wear this top as undies can I just ask?), my velvet ankle boots and Aztec backpack I’m quite enjoying the grungy, biker girl feel.

I’d really love to know what you think of the 5 different looks and which one is your favourite :)

Do you own a denim jacket? How do you style yours?

Oh, I do Love Country Life.

Hat: Topshop. Floral Crop: Topshop. Belt: Vintage. Necklace: Vintage. Bracelet: Jacey Withers. Watch: Guess. Stretch trousers: c/o bonprix. Sandals: c/o bonprix. Bag: c/o: Scarlett Fashion.
Daniel is currently away on a long weekend with the 'lads' - although I'm super jealous of him getting a break (I've used up all my holiday on Australia), I am missing him quite a bit and whilst he's off sunning himself I've had my beautiful nanny staying with me. She lives a little way away from me and I don't get to see her as much as I would like, so it's been lovely to have her and spend time together. Yesterday my mum and little sister came over and we took nanny's dog for a walk. I thought it the perfect opportunity to take some outfit snaps out and about. I'd been saying to Katy (from Little Winter) that I was getting a bit fed up of my garden snaps and our new village we've moved to really is so pretty (and full of fields!) so it seemed rude not to take advantage.

I'm feeling a bit fruity in this outfit, not gunna lie - you know how much I love my black and white so digging out this old top is a bit of a rarity and I'm quite enjoying it. I also haven't owned a pair of white trousers since I was about 17, I don't know why, I just outgrew them and never bothered to purchase another pair. But I'm rekindling my love and I have to say I'm head over heels. Comfiest trousers ever - and for £19.99 it's a bit of a steal isn't it? It's also becoming apparent that I like orange rather a lot and I think this is the best bag to ever grace earth. It's HUGE but doesn't look it and I can fit my entire life, and someone else's, in it - which is bloomin' marvellous.

Today, I want to take nanny to our local garden centre - it has a beautiful little restaurant so we'll have some luncheon and mooch about the plants!

Have you all had a good weekend? Any news? Do let me know if you like the 'on location' shots too! I quite liked escaping my lawn for a bit :)

Jump! For Gorgeous Couture.

The Nicole Jumpsuit. c/o Gorgeous Couture. Hat: Topshop. Earrings: New Look. Bag: c/o Bagable
When Gorgeous Couture contacted me and asked if I'd like to participate in their next 'Blogger's Edit' I pretty much weed my pants. Ladies - have you SEEN their absolutely amazing clothing? No? Then where have you been?

A beautiful little box arrived on my doorstep and inside all prettily wrapped in tissue paper was this babe of a jumpsuit. Now I know this isn't your typical every day item of clothing, in fact it's probably the damn sexiest thing I own. But I truly believe that once in a while a lady should be treated to ultimate luxury and that's exactly what this shop beholds. I rarely play dress up and it's hard to find something I feel comfortable in when it comes to figure hugging and glamorous, but surprisingly I do feel quite that. Of course, me being me I had to dress it down a liiiittle bit with my trusty fedora - but this could easily be made in to the dressiest of jumpsuits with a snazzy up do and bright red lippy.
My little orange clutch from bagable adds a pop of colour and is the perfect size! I don't know about you but I absolutely can't stand teeny tiny bags that fit nothing in! This one is absolutely perfect for fitting in your essentials and not being too clonky for a night on the town :) you know, I think this just might be the perfect outfit for my friends 25th Birthday next month!

The lovely people over at Bagable have also been super lovely and offered you guys a shweet 10% off any bag with the code: WONDERFULYOU10 at checkout, so shop to your hearts content ladies!
