Quick update | Taiwan winter essentials

I've been 'living' in Taipei for almost a week now and I say 'living' in between quotations because up until now it just feels like going on a holiday. In case you haven't seen my latest vlog, I was travelling to Taiwan with my parents. I'm 23 years old and my parents still worry over me, so that's why they wanted to join me for a few days first. I've been busy with arranging school, getting a bank account and getting a Taiwanese phone number. I've also been exploring the neighbourhood, the metro system and visited some night markets. In the next vlog I'll be talking to you about my first impressions and show you a bit of Taipei. In the upcoming days I'm a free agent and will be able to do this vlog!

But first. I thought it would be fun on my thoughts on how to dress for Taipei in the winter season.
The weather is nothing like in the Netherlands.. at least for what I'm experiencing at this moment. The weather in the afternoon is hot but still windy and sometimes even rainy.

So this Rains raincoat is perfect for the weather in Taipei. The material of this raincoat is light, so it doesn't get too hot but still manage to break the wind and shelter you from the rain. I'm so happy I got this eventually over the ones from Stutterheim which I was dying to have. Another thing I have been into lately is wearing a plain black cap. I just think it makes the outfit a tat more interesting and it will help me through the rain as well.
As I'll be going to school, this leather laptopbag is a musthave. I think the model is classic and timeless. I think it will suit with any outfit. I found this one from Burkely at marington.nl. They have other classic and timeless designs on the website. They are a bit pricey but for genuine quality leather it's okay to splurge sometimes.
Even though I know I can walk on my trusty ankleboots which I've been wearing non stop back in the Netherlands, it is so much better wearing sneakers around in Taipei. You'll be walking a lot even when you're planning to take the MRT, you'll find yourself walking more than you think. And it's so much easier when you have to take the stairs etc.
Another thing you must have is a camera. You'd want to take pictures. There's always something interesting to capture on film. May it be the people, food (almost everytime it's the food) or just the streets of Taipei, you'll regret not taking it with you. I must admit I've been lazy to grab my camera when I see a great opportunity to do so, because I'm thinking myself I'll be here for a while, I can take the shot another time. But be honest, you won't do so till it's too late. Or the lightning or the moment isn't right anymore. So don't hesitate to take the shot! This is also a reminder for me.

What do you think of my musthaves?

OOTD | My new green velvet cap

I can't remember the last time I wore a (baseball) cap on my own free will and look at me now! I'm totally liking the look of it. I've been searching for one that isn't too 'sporty' and can match with anything. This velvet one from Pull&Bear is perfect for only 10euros and I just love the color. I didn't want the outfit to be too sporty since I'll be heading to the cinema and wanted to look nice. So I opted for my Zara wrap coat and combined it with some basic white blouse and dark blue jeans. To make this outfit less blahh and more interesting and sparkly, I added these silvery boots from Primark which I don't wear often enough.

I'm kind of excited of this cap and can't wait to wear and style it differently. I hope to find other great caps soon!

HAUL ft Coco | Autumn staples

 photo haulcoco.gif

(My new cat, coco, decided to hijack this post by refusing to move away from the camera.)

I've been obsessed by clothing with a high neckline/halter ever since I saw it on Amanda Valentine the first episode of Project Runway season 13 (awesome season btw) and it has been my mission to buy a few. The ones I've found at Forever21 are perfect for the fall! I love wearing dark green (hunter green is how they call it online) for fall and the ribbed material makes it more appropriate for the weather, although it's cropped (seemingly inappropriate), it's a perfect basic piece to wear underneath a off shoulder top. Few outfits are already forming in my head.

I can recommend everybody using the Forever21 webshop! Way better than the crowded small spaces where you can't find anything and everything is a chaos at the Forever21 store in Amsterdam. So it's worth the shipping costs. The best part is that it arrives the next day you ordered (two times straight).

You can find more pieces that I've bought below.

ootd | Some library essentials

H&M cropped sweater, Primark blouse, Bershka jeans, Chuck taylors.

As I've mentioned in the previous post already, it's still exam week! So I'm basically living in the library at the moment. What am I wearing? A simple but comfortable outfit. Here's a list of essentials when going to the library, not to mention to not forget to bring your books with you.

My library fashion essentials:
1. wear a vest or bring an extra sweater which you can easily take on and off. It tends to get colder after sitting a while.
2. wear pants that are stretchy or loose fitting.
3. wear flat shoes or sneakers, the sound of heels can be annoying when it's über quiet.
4. bring a hair elastic with you, so your hair won't get in your face while you try to concentrate on your books.
5. wear natural makeup so it won't smear on your face when you wipe the sweat off your forehead from studying hard.

6. don't wear rings or bracelets, it will get in the way when you're trying to take some notes.
A watch is okay though.

Do you have some other essentials that you like to share?

And if you're on the same boat as me, good luck and let's kick some asses!
